With the Fifa world cup fastly approaching, there’s one question on everybody’s mind-who will make the squad? So in this feature we look at all Fabio Capello’s possibilities and we start at looking at one of the most important positions- Right Back.

Gary Neville, 34

As Gary Neville will be thirty five when the World Cup Finals kicks off, he is a very unlikely choice for Fabio Capello. With eighty five national caps to his name, Gary Neville is the ninth most capped player but with only eight league appearances this season Neville isn’t getting as much league experience as Capello requests. I believe that Gary Neville has no chance a tall of getting to South Africa because of lack of game time.

Glen Johnson, 25

Before the reign of Fabio Capello, Glen Johnson was an unnoticed player with only a few caps. From day one, Fabio Capello noticed the twenty five year old and rewarded him his second international appearances and hasn’t looked back. Since his first call up under Capello, Johnson has been first choice right back but his latest injury concern could put his position under pressure. I think that Glen Johnson will be Capello’s first choice right back if he is fit.

Wes Brown, 30

Although originally a centre back, Wes Brown has regularly appeared as a right back for both England and Manchester United. With more experience that Johnson; Brown could be a tight contender for the job. After coming back from a long term injury, Brown is looking to reclaim a regular place in the England squad of which he once had.

Micah Richards, 21

After signing professional papers in for City, Micah Richards was rewarded by receiving his first full English cap when regular right back Gary Neville withdrew due to injury. Making him England’s youngest ever defender beating England regular Rio Ferdinand. Having only appeared five times so far this season, Richards is unlikely to be considered. I believe that Richards is unlikely to even be considered unless he unless he improves a great deal and appears more for City.

I think that Glen Johnson will be Capello’s first choice if he’s fit but I also think that Wes Brown will be considered as he can not only play in right back but also centre back.
